History

The 3 Air Force Selection Board is the newly inaugurated AFSB, inaugurated in 2012. 3 AFSB is located in Sector 9 of Gandhinagar which is also the headquarter of South Western Air Command of Indian Air Force. Gandhinagar is the capital city of Gujrat.

The board conducts interview for entries of NDA, AFCAT, CDSE etc.

This board shortlists potential candidates having officers like qualities through a scientific testing procedure which extends for 5 days.

The board has all necessary facilities to provide a comfortable environment to the candidates during their stay at the Centre.

History of the city

Gandhinagar got its name from the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

Gandhinagar is the capital city of Gujarat and is an important city in Gujarat in India. At a distance of 32 kilometers towards north east from Ahmadabad lies Gandhinagar.

Gandhinagar is situated on the west bank of river Sabarmati.

History of Gandhinagar states that the city was established around 1960.

The city got an identity of its own when the state of Mumbai was divided into two separate states of Gujarat and Maharashtra. Mumbai since then became a part of Maharashtra and Gandhinagar became a part of Gujarat as a state.

Gandhinagar emerged as the new capital for the state of Gujarat as the situation demanded for a new capital city.

Places of interest

Akshardham - The Akshardham temple in the city is one of the biggest temples in India, and it is a major pilgrim destination that many people swarm to. This temple was built by the same organization as the one in Delhi and is very much similar to it.

Adalaj Stepwell - It is a magnificent structure built brilliantly to curb water crisis in and around Adalaj Village. The stepwell is located at a distance of 3 to 4 kilometres to the south-west of Gandhinagar, the capital city of Gujarat.

Trimandir - Spanning over more than 40000 sq ft, the Trimandir in Gandhinagar celebrates Jainism, Shaivism and Vaishnavism under one roof. The entire temple is surrounded by a lush green garden, classic wooden benches and a beautiful towering fountain.

Indroda Nature Park - Resting on the banks of River Sabarmati is a 400-hectare gem, the Indroda Dinosaur and Fossil Park. Not only is this park the second largest dinosaur-egg hatchery in the world, but it also houses skeletons of gigantic mammals like the blue whale.

Swapna Srushti Water Park- It is the most amazing and thrilling water amusement park located on the Gandhinagar- Mahudi highway in Gujarat. The water park boasts of artificial water falls, wave pools, snow fall and the most adventurous water rides like pendulum, missisipi, miracle tunnel etc.
